Program Focus
Year B (2027-2028)

Where the program's first year (Year A) focuses primarily on developing individuals’ skills, Year B will focus more on systems change. Participants will learn more about Anglican Identity and Spirituality, a variety of Change Models (and how to use them).

Participants will also learn and practice skills in ethnography, neighbourhood mapping, and how to more faithfully organize mission and ministry to engage their local context. 

What is Congregational Development?
Congregational Development is the development of congregations of all sizes, locations, and conditions into more faithful, healthy, and effective communities of faith that are:
  • Focused on and faithful to their unique reason for being—their primary task—as congregations. Congregations are local expressions of the Body of Christ.
  • Connected to and expressive of their unique ecclesial tradition, ethos, and character.
  • Self-renewing and responsive to the challenges and opportunities before them.
  • Sustainable or working toward greater sustainability in terms of a fit between the elements of their organizational life: vision for ministry, leadership, culture, size, property, finances, etc.
  • Fostering a culture of transparency, courage, flexibility, collaboration, and forgiveness in which the congregation and its leaders have a greater sense of choice.
Diocesan Teams for 2027-2028

Each Diocese in the Province of British Columbia and Yukon is asked to recommend at least one additional Team to participate in the Provincial School. Here are a few guidelines for selecting teams ideal for participation in the School:

  • 3 to 5 people, a mix of laity and clergy (this helps to develop relationships in the leadership team, while developing a common language and understanding that they can use in their home context)
  • Team members should have pre-existing positive relationships with one another 
  • Team members might be from one parish; they could just as easily come from parishes working together in a Regional Ministry, or as part of a Diocesan Ministry
  • Members should be ready and willing to develop skills that will help them to deepen their leadership, to apply their learnings in their home context
  • Participants should be able to attend both in-person and online sessions 
  • Ability to effectively use Zoom for online sessions
